#Giving Tuesday

The Makayla Fund is participating in #GivingTuesday on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

The Makayla Fund was started after  Makayla Guerriero died by suicide. We now have a non-profit for Teen Suicide Awareness and High School Sports Scholarships.

The mission of the Makayla Fund is to help educate teens and their parents to assist in preventing teen suicide in Makayla’s memory through public awareness and education, reduce the stigma, and serve as a resource for those touched by suicide in the entire Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

We also want to help improve the life of local teens with our high school sports scholarship program,  by giving the necessary funds to play a sport even if one can not afford it. These scholarships will help take the added pressures off families who don’t need the unwanted burdens.

The Makayla Fund is a 501(c)(3). All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

The money that is donated to the Makayla fund goes to:

Scholarships $50,000.00 + donated to student athletes in cities and towns across Massachusetts

Signs of Suicide Program (SOS) – Screening for Mental Health is providing The program with our funds ($50,000.00)
